The weeks before Diwali can bring more conversations about cars, two-wheelers, home improvements and small-business purchases.
For a loan Direct Selling Agent (DSA), that may create opportunities to help eligible customers find the right lender.
The opportunity is real only when a borrower genuinely needs credit, can afford the repayment and qualifies under a bank or NBFC’s policy.
Festive enthusiasm does not improve a weak credit profile or turn a rejected application into a commission.
Diwali falls on Sunday, 8 November 2026. A sensible festive DSA plan starts before that date: identify suitable loan products, build consent-based lead sources, pre-screen borrowers honestly and track cases to actual disbursal.
This guide covers the most relevant loan categories, lead-generation methods, payout calculations, advertising safeguards and a practical four-week operating plan.
What makes the festive season different for a loan DSA?
A DSA sources prospective borrowers and helps them through a lender-approved application process. The lender—not the DSA—decides eligibility, interest rate, loan amount and sanction.
The DSA’s commercial agreement normally identifies the event that earns a payout, often an eligible loan disbursal, together with adjustments and clawback rules.
Around Diwali, customers may be buying assets, renovating premises or preparing stock for peak demand. These are useful conversation triggers, not evidence that a loan should be taken.
An ethical DSA first checks whether credit is appropriate and whether the borrower can repay.
| Festive customer need | Possible loan category | Useful DSA conversation | Main caution |
| New car or two-wheeler | Vehicle loan | Down payment, EMI, tenure and total cost | Do not overlook insurance, fees or affordability |
| Shop restocking before Diwali | MSME/business loan or working-capital facility | Cash-flow cycle, existing debt and repayment dates | Seasonal sales estimates are not guaranteed cash flow |
| Household renovation | Personal loan, home-improvement loan or lender-approved secured product | Purpose, collateral, interest and term | Avoid borrowing more than the genuine requirement |
| Property purchase | Home loan | Eligibility, down payment and document readiness | Property and legal checks can extend timelines |
| Existing borrower seeking lower costs | Balance transfer where available | Total switching cost and remaining loan term | A lower headline rate may not mean lower total cost |
| Asset-owning enterprise needing liquidity | Loan against property where suitable | Business cash flow and security implications | Property at risk if repayments fail |
No festival changes a bank’s underwriting obligations. Avoid publishing claims such as “instant approval for everyone”, “CIBIL not needed” or “Diwali guaranteed disbursal” unless the exact lender-approved offer and eligibility language genuinely support them.
Which festive-season loan products can a DSA focus on?
Vehicle loans: strong purchase intent, narrow eligibility windows
Dealerships and used-vehicle businesses can be valuable referral relationships when the applicant explicitly authorises contact.
A vehicle buyer often knows the ticket size and intended purchase date, which helps with basic affordability discussions.
But a DSA should not claim that a dealer promotion is a lender’s credit offer. Loan terms depend on lender policy, borrower profile, vehicle details and permitted promotions.
Personal loans: simple enquiry, stricter affordability screening
A personal loan may appear convenient for renovation or a large planned purchase. Because it is typically unsecured, existing EMIs, income stability and credit history matter.
The DSA should make the all-in borrowing cost clear through the lender’s approved disclosures instead of highlighting only a small EMI.
Business and MSME loans: the cash-flow conversation matters most
A shopkeeper buying seasonal inventory may need funds before suppliers’ payment deadlines.
Ask about historical turnover, GST and bank statements where appropriate, purchase orders, existing obligations and what happens if festive sales arrive later than expected.
A business loan used only to create excess unsold inventory may damage the borrower’s position after the festival.
Home loans and loan against property: fewer files, more documentation
Large loans can take longer to process. An effective DSA helps applicants organise income and property documents early, but should never promise that a property has passed valuation or legal due diligence before the lender confirms it.
Consider the longer sales cycle when forecasting festive payouts.
Eight practical ways to generate qualified Diwali loan leads
1. Build referrals with dealerships and legitimate local merchants
A vehicle dealer can ask interested buyers whether they wish to be contacted about financing.
Customers should know who will contact them and why. Do not buy bulk contact databases or assume a dealer’s entire customer list is available to the DSA.
2. Meet MSME owners before the busiest shopping week
A short conversation about inventory funding, receivable cycles and document readiness can identify genuine borrowing needs.
Local traders’ associations may permit educational sessions; the lender or platform should approve any branded loan communication and special-offer language.
3. Publish a simple affordability explainer
Explain how loan amount, annual interest, tenure, fees and other EMIs affect repayment obligations. A calculator is most useful when it shows total interest and total payable, not just a teaser EMI.
If quoting a lender product, display the terms the lender has approved, including applicable APR disclosures where required.
4. Offer a document-readiness checklist
Borrowers often lose time because PAN, business records, income proof or bank details do not match.
A checklist helps them prepare without uploading personal data into an unsecured public form. Ask for sensitive documents only through approved lender systems.
5. Revisit consented leads who previously paused their application
A person who voluntarily requested information earlier may still need financing. Check the original purpose, consent, retention rules and lender agreement before re-contacting.
Do not repurpose a declined lead for another product without the necessary permission.
6. Build distinct landing pages for genuine loan purposes
A page on vehicle-loan eligibility should not look identical to an MSME working-capital page.
Each should explain the borrower profile, documents, estimated process and key risks, identify the actual lender or authorised channel where appropriate, and avoid vague “100% approved” claims.
For paid advertising, check the principal’s authorisation and platform-specific financial-services verification.
7. Organise small financial-literacy sessions
A practical local webinar can cover the difference between fixed and floating rates, how late EMIs affect borrowing, and why taking multiple simultaneous applications can complicate credit assessment.
The educational purpose should be genuine, not disguised pressure to submit a loan application.
8. Ask satisfied customers for introductions—with permission
A customer can choose to introduce a friend who wants financing. That is better than requesting a customer’s full phone contacts.
Give the new prospect a clear choice about whether to receive a call; maintain records of consent and opt-outs.
How to qualify a lead before sending it to a lender
A DSA gains very little by submitting high volumes of weak files.
Early screening should focus on the basics a lender or its platform lets the DSA review: requested amount, purpose, income type, existing obligations, locality, documentation, and the product’s general eligibility rules.
Do not use your own undisclosed credit-scoring formula to claim approval odds.
| Pre-screening question | Why it matters | Safe next step |
| What is the borrowing purpose and amount? | Identifies suitable product category | Compare only approved lender options |
| What is the income or business cash-flow pattern? | Relates to repayment capacity | Request approved proof through a secure channel |
| What EMIs are already payable? | High obligations can affect eligibility | Explain that the lender will assess affordability |
| Is the customer willing to share necessary data? | Lawful processing and audit trail | Record purpose-specific consent |
| Are identity and address records consistent? | Avoids preventable document mismatch | Resolve errors before submission |
| Has the borrower recently applied elsewhere? | Multiple enquiries may complicate assessment | Be transparent about duplicate applications |
| Is the requested purchase time-sensitive? | Process can outlast the promotion | Avoid promising a sanction date |

How loan DSA commission works during Diwali 2026
No official Diwali commission rate applies to every bank, NBFC, or loan product. The DSA agreement controls the payout percentage or amount, product eligibility, disbursal trigger, deductions, taxes, clawbacks and timing.
A lender may announce a campaign, but it only changes your compensation if the written commercial terms actually say so.
A simple illustration shows why both conversion and loan size matter. Imagine a DSA sources 100 permission-based enquiries, 40 are qualified, 25 become complete applications, 12 receive approval, and nine actually disburse.
If an illustrative contractual gross payout averages ₹8,000 per eligible disbursal, the gross payout is ₹72,000.
Deduct hypothetical marketing and operating costs of ₹30,000, leaving ₹42,000 before taxes and other adjustments. These figures describe a scenario, not typical or expected earnings.
| Funnel stage | Illustrative count | Calculation / significance |
| Consented enquiries | 100 | People who knowingly requested contact |
| Qualified leads | 40 | 40% of enquiries, before lender underwriting |
| Completed applications | 25 | 62.5% of qualified leads |
| Approvals | 12 | Lender decisions; approval is not disbursal |
| Eligible disbursals | 9 | Payout-triggering cases if the agreement says so |
| Average gross payout per disbursal | ₹8,000 | Hypothetical contract assumption |
| Gross illustrative commission | ₹72,000 | 9 × ₹8,000 |
| Marketing and operating cost | ₹30,000 | Hypothetical expense |
| Contribution before tax / adjustments | ₹42,000 | ₹72,000 − ₹30,000 |
The margin can disappear quickly if conversion falls, cases are reversed, or acquisition costs rise. Tracking cost per disbursal is more useful than celebrating raw phone leads.

A four-week festive DSA action plan
| Period | Commercial focus | Operational task | KPI to watch |
| 29 Oct–2 Nov | Confirm festive lending product fit | Get current lender-approved disclosures, eligibility and payout sheet | Approved campaign readiness |
| 3–7 Nov | Build demand responsibly | Consent-based dealership, trader and digital enquiries | Qualified enquiries, not purchased contacts |
| 8–14 Nov | Process genuine applications | Check documents, minimise duplicate submissions and track decisions | Completed files and disbursal rate |
| 15–21 Nov | Follow through after the festival | Resolve pending cases and reconcile payouts | Disbursals, clawbacks and cost per disbursal |
The calendar continues after Diwali deliberately. Many borrowers will not complete lender checks by 8 November; pressure to “close today” can damage both compliance and customer trust.
Lending and advertising rules every DSA must respect
A normal DSA does not possess a universal standalone “RBI DSA licence” and cannot sanction loans. The regulated bank or NBFC remains responsible for the lending decision and for oversight of outsourced sourcing activities.
Digital-lending businesses and Lending Service Providers (LSPs) may additionally be subject to the applicable RBI Credit Facilities Directions and digital-lending requirements.
These rules cover matters such as transparent loan information, responsible data collection, lender–LSP relationships and customer protection.
The regulatory framework also changes. RBI’s consolidated digital-lending directions issued in May 2025 were subsequently absorbed into updated sector-specific Credit Facilities Directions in November 2025.
For a 2026 campaign, use the current directions applicable to the lender, not an outdated standalone circular. The Finance Ministry’s July 2026 explanation of digital-lending safeguards provides further background.
For calling and SMS campaigns, TRAI requires legitimate sender and consent processes. TRAI guidance for senders covers registered headers, templates, and customer consent.
A DSA cannot assume that being a loan partner overrides DND preferences. Finobizz also explains the larger compliance picture in its digital advertising rules for financial agents guide.
Red-flag claims to remove from festive promotions
Do not advertise guaranteed loan approval, pre-approved status without lender authorisation, an interest rate that is not available to the customer’s profile, “no documents needed” when documents are required, or an invented festival deadline.
Never collect loan disbursals or repayments through a personal account. A borrower should know which regulated lender is involved, what information is collected, how it is used and where to raise a complaint.
Frequently asked questions
Is Diwali a good season to start a loan DSA business?
It can produce relevant buyer conversations in vehicle, retail and MSME categories.
But success depends on an approved lender relationship, borrower affordability, genuine lead permission and disbursement conversion—not the festival alone.
Is there a fixed festive DSA commission rate in 2026?
No. The bank, NBFC or approved principal sets commercial terms. Always confirm the product-specific payout schedule, event trigger, reversals and tax treatment in writing.
Can a DSA guarantee a Diwali personal-loan approval?
No. The lender decides approval and final terms under its own credit policy. A DSA may assist with authorised documents and process explanations.
Can a DSA advertise loans on WhatsApp and Google?
Only within the applicable lender authorisation, telecom consent and platform requirements. Promotional content should accurately name the principal or relationship and use approved product claims.
Should a DSA push borrowers to take larger loans for higher commission?
No. Borrowing must reflect need, affordability and lender eligibility. Mis-selling can harm customers and the DSA’s relationship with the principal.
Build a lending business that works after Diwali
A good festive campaign starts with one useful question: Which customer has a legitimate borrowing need that an authorised lender can reasonably evaluate? Work backwards from that answer.
Use local relationships, clear disclosures, document discipline and honest follow-up. When the festival ends, those habits remain valuable—and so does the trust of a borrower who was never sold a loan they could not afford.
